Waking up is a goal, not a task

I have wanted to do a lot of things. I usually use a task app to list these and try to accomplish whatever I can. It took me a while and a lot of reviews (on tasks) to realize that some of those 'tasks' were not really tasks. Some of them were goals. It can't be achieved directly. One of those task was 'waking up at 4'. This was more like a challenge I wanted to try at least for a few days. I couldn't do it, btw. I knew I needed around 6 hours of sleep every night. But I rarely slept before 1am.  And so I added a task to my task list: 'Sleep before 10pm'. Why would I want to wake up that early? - Waking up is 1st accomplishment, motivating to do other tasks - Getting that extra 2 hours for myself - With less distractions, better focus can be achieved - A lot more peaceful - Good time for jogging & workouts - Before getting exhausted of office works, personal works can be done during this time. - Waking up early, in turns, helps to go to sleep early, ...

My first blog post on my domain

How it started

I registered my domain ahmedhafiz.com an year ago (on 2021) hoping it would help me with my career. I also wanted to keep something of my own in the internet, by my name. And so I did, I made the website on my own without using external libraries and frameworks, all by my self (of course, with the help of a lot of documents, experiences and stack overflow) for my own satisfaction. The initial design was a bit better, but also complex than what I had actually released. I really wanted to bring something as simple as Cassidy's website.

How it's going

After almost an year, I asked somebody to review my 'portfolio' and what I got was not-surprisingly the need to change it's appearance. He mentioned it's not about making it with my own hand, without use of other frameworks/templates. A viewer will only see what I have to offer. Use of a template could help me. But right now, I am quite busy with my life to rebuild an existing website (remember this, when you have to do something: if you are doing it, you better do it for long term). 

It was also my plan to include a blog part in my site. Though, a bit separate from my original site. I could achieve it through sub-domain. But now I had to build a blogging site. I tried to find simple blogging templates, which required to put money on at some point. I am not getting paid for this, and so I don't want to spend on it. I was actually looking for WordPress alternative for another blog I wanted to make when I came across the Blogger. Then I found how simple this is and looked perfect for my use case as a personal website's blog section.

What's next?

Hopefully I will update my website with a better appearance at some point. As of now, I have other things that require more attention. That said, I could always update my blog section with a few posts a month, I guess.

Managing my projects

I have been planning and designing several projects for years. Some cooler than the others. Some a lot complex than I even want. This blog was part of a project too. I believe in physics and I believe 1 action can lead to the next, without trying so hard. But that 1st action requires energy. We need to put an effort in that action. Much like how this blog came into existence. I was researching for a project and found the tech I could use for this blog. From that point, I gathered all projects into 1 view. A project management software, or even an excel sheet could help one see the overview of projects and determine how one can proceed with finishing each of them. Each project will have several tasks. And a task can have multiple subtasks. Usually, in teams, tasks are assigned to different people. But I am a one-man army, so I did not need the assignment field.
